RSD vs Kappa

Did some searchin, but couldn't really find a direct compare. I have been looking at a bunch of different subs lately and just getting my feet wet. I can get a great deal for a kappa perfect at cost price. However i have been hearing raving reviews about the RSD. I want a SQL sub, and i figured both fiit the bill. I will either be doing 2 10's or 2 12's, most likely 10's(sealed). I will hopefully be running them off a Hifonics 1206d to match my hifonics amp i have for my fronts.

What would u guys take, price aside?

I might wait for the new AA offerings, but we'll see.

I had a single PG RSD 10inch subwoofer in a sealed box (.65 cuft) with 300rms going into it. more than enough power. I wasn't impressed.

Then again I'm more of a SPL guy when it comes to subs.

Talk about components and that's a different story.. ALL SQ there.

I guess I could've but the peak is at 500watts so who knows. I didn't want to push it too much. maybe the box was too small at .65 cuft

You cant expect much output from a single 10 in a small sealed enclosure..

well i have my rsd in a 1.0cuft enclosure and it gets pretty loud for a single 10 but I'll probly get a 2nd rsd soon

The kappa doesnt hold a candle to the RSD. The RSD will clobber it in SQ and SPL. Just get 2 10"RSD's with 1ft^3 per sub, and about 1000-1500rms and you be really satisfied.

Umm... No

RMS rating is 500w RMS, not peak. And seeing as they have been known to take around 1000w RMS daily with no problems, that measly 300w is just a drop in the bucket. And the box is a bit small. I've heard that the RSDs like a bit more enclosure volume. I'd do at least 1 cube per driver, probably 1.5 if you can.

Would the Hifonics 1206d be a good choice as amp? I am looking to match my other amp, and i've heard good things about this one

2006D would be a better choice. Give the RSds a bit more than rated power (I'd say around 700w apiece). Hifonics underrates their amps, so the 2006D should give you around 300w of headroom to play with (Plus the fact that you'd be pushing the amp less will help avoid clipping, keep internal temps down, and prolong the life of the amp).

Since they would either be a duel 4 or single 4, i would have to run a 4 ohm current through them with a 4 ohm current from my amp? correct? or if run in parallel it wouldn't matter? I could of sworn i've read about people using a 2 or 1 ohm current with a different ohm sub. Just getting a little confused with all this subwoofer business, total different world then speakers!

Look at my setup, I have to D4 ohm subs wired to one ohm.

Btw, the RSD's are great subs, best SQL sub for the money.
