Up for sale is a very rare RS Audio Pro 165 component set. Consists of two carbon fiber 6.5" mids, a pair of aluminium enclosed volume silk dome tweeters, an unused set of passives that utilize handpicked Mundorf caps, 25 to 30ft. of new RS Audio speaker cable that came with the set, the original wooden box and the new resistors used to attenuate the tweets.
A truly rare highend set comparable to the highest end offerings from Dynaudio, Focal, etc. The set was used for around 8 weeks. There are a few minor cosmetic flaws, but nothing really noticable once the set is installed. The passives are flawless, as are the cones and surround for the mids. One of the tweeters has a VERY SLIGHT dent on the grill that DOES NOT touch the silk dome, nor did it chip any balck paint off of the grill. The same tweeter has a tiny nick on the edge of the aluminium enclosure, purely cosmetic and it effects performance in no way, shape or form.
The set is rated at 80w rms, but they'll take ALOT more power than that and eat it up. I ran them actively with a Brax X2000 on the mids and the front two channels of my Brax X1400 powering the tweeters. The set is very revealing, not really lending any kind of sonic signature of their own to the sound. You'll hear the music as it was recorded as it was intended. Very comparable to Dynaudio soundwise imo, with the exception of the tweeter. The RS Pro Tech tweeter is a better tweet than the Dyn MD100 imo, atleast with the somewhat limited experience I have with the MD100. I'm selling the set only because I'm in a bit of a bind and I could use the money. Otherwise they would be remaining with me for a longtime to come.
The set retails for around $1300. I payed over $500 with shipping, brand new. They've been used for 8 weeks tops. This is a great set that few have ever even heard of, but this German made set is among the very best made imo and in the opinion of many others. I'm asking $275 shipped for them, plus 3% to cover paypal fees. I have TONS of references available over on eca, as well as my ebay feedback which is 100% positive. MANY pics available upon request if your seriously thinking about purchasing them. Thanks for looking....
