ok i think my craftsman old router crapped out. bits will just slide out of it now. got a new one, and it will barely hold, when you start cutting, after about 4 inches it will slide out.

so im going to get a new one, any suggestions? should i get a router or a router table?

The old one probably wasn't bad.You just needed a new colar sleeve.They wear out over time from tightehing and losening and slight slipage from not tightening the bit good enough will wera away metal.It sounds as if your not tightening them good enough.
