Router? Skil 1820?

Anyone own one of these? They are pretty cheap and I was thinking of picking one up. I own a couple other tools made by Skil, and I really like them.

Basically looking for any plunge router under $100 that will get the job done. This is a pic of the Skil 1820:

the only thing i did not like about that one (from what i read) is that it does not work with 1/2" collet, only 1/4"

skill is the ghetto brand to bosch, bosch makes good stuff so id say try it out. it cant be too bad.

Wouldnt be that big a deal though, would it? Any suggestions of better plunge routers around $100?

lol at the first response to your thread being some spam shit.

i have a few skill brand stuff. I never had a problem with them. I dont build 10,000 box a week with them, but for my light use they been fine. Dont see why their router would be any different.

Also craftsman has a nice looking plunge router for 90 bucks. Plus am sure it will go on sale here soon too.

may be bit more but mine is a portercable does 1/4 and 1/2 collets. 1/4 are weak and can break often. i cant reember the model number but check them ouit

Ive heard good things about Porter Cable. Thinking of going Friday to see what HD/Lowes has so Im trying to get some opinions.

Basically any plunge router from a reputable company with a 1/2" collet should be ok?

wow i would skip the hf one lol. Just do some research on google type in the model # and reviews. Mine is a fixed base for rounding edges man I really need to get a plunge

Ended up getting a nice Ryobi for $100. Cant wait to try the thing out.

Same one I have, Ive burnt up 3 cutting woofer holes.

Although I set the bit depth the 3/4in and rip through it, **** making 2 or 3 passes!
