Rookie needs help with setting up an audio system!!

Hey all,

Complete rookie here but I would like to set up a decent audio system. I am not looking for a head pounding set up requiring to much juice, i would just like to hear crystal clear music, sounding like the way they should..high base if it is required etc...

The vehicle is an LR3 pretty much with a base audio..Which cannot be removed so to enhance my musical experience I have identified the following components:

Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY.2

interactive signal processor lets you expand and fine-tune any car audio system

2 sets of Polk Audio MMC6500 6-1/2" Component System (Front and rear door speakers)

frequency response: 43-25,000 Hz

power range: 10-125 watts RMS

peak power handling: 250 watts

sensitivity: 90 d

Eclipse XA4000 125W x 4 Car Amp

4-channel car amplifier

125 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms (175 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms)

350 watts RMS x 2 bridged output at 4 ohms

ICEpower® full-range Class-D amplifier design

INFINITY-BASSLINK-T

10" subwoofer and 2 x 10" passive radiators with built-in 250W RMS class D amp

I’m concerned about space and ******* the life out of the battery which is pretty much used to power everything (from suspension to just about God knows what). Plus I’ve opted for a powered woofer set up to avoid throwing in an additional amp, and getting a bass box designed..and to save space. I would appreciate any help and advice anyone can give….

Thanks

dump that basslink. Get you a good SQ 10 or 12 and amp to push it. If you play your cards right, you wont need more than 3-400watts.

Good choice on the 360.2 for being a rookie. most dont know about it.

Nice Eclipse amp too.

The polk's should be ok, not my favorite speaker, but it all depends on the listener.

just my 2c worth

well not stupid money...i need 4 comp speakers....and i'm looking for sumthing that sounds/plays really good...anything below boston audio might consider diamond audio range (the lower range..with some watts to spare)....

Yeah, I would just go with one set of comps and then coax's in the back. I had that idea before and was talked out of it quickly. I would say just make sure you deaden what you can if you are putting them in the doors. Brand doesn't matter. Nobody has the same ear as the next person. Just listen to the speakers at best buy/circuit city/electronic express or wherever and decide for yourself. Ive heard great things about the new premiers and top of the line kenwoods. Personally, I really liked the sound of the new RF power series. Not so much a fan of the Alpine r's. Like I said, your ears-your speakers. Just be sure to give them plenty of juice and you shouldn't be disappointed.

Well thanks for the help..hmmm I am limited by what fits the doors really, i might go for the ones i've mentioned shouldn't be bad..Just really wondered about the sub situation, didn't really want two amps..and the question would be what brand to use for the sub and the amp the set up etc..But no chance of me listening to the speakers so i have to go on users reviews...i'll actually be in the Uk and the vheicle will be there i will just pick up the stuff in the us on my way there...so i was seeking some advice about quality of choice or advice on how to go about it..just wanted a cost effective sensible choice that will sound good....

Diamond/Eclipse/JL/RE/FI/SI/SS are all great SQ brands. A good single 10 or 12 in the proper box should be more than enough for your needs. I would say a good 500w rms amp would be more than enough. Lots of good brands out there, just search for the best price you can find and go with what you want.
