rockford question

i recently purchased an XTANT X1044 sub and box, and i was wondering which amp to get to power it. i am on a tight budget also. i have been researching rockford fosgate, the 351M power series, and the 501bd power series. i would rather buy the 351M since it is cheaper, but i didnt know if underpowering the sub would kill it. i have heard things here and there about underpowering and dont know what is real and fake. the sub is 500 watts RMS. the 350M is 350 watts RMS, and the 501bd is 500 rms both rated at 2 ohms. thanks a lot for any help.

It's not a must, but it definately will preform better. It seems that for an extra $20 you can send it the full 500w. And the RMS is the recomended power by the manufacturer, so it will not be damaging at all.
