Rockford Punch v2 unresponsive!

My sub is completely unresponsive!

Hooked it up, nothing.. Took it off and put the wires to my audiobahn 12, worked fine.

took out a drill battery and put it to the sub to test, nothing at all.

speaker feels fine, sounds fine, no problems with the cone at all, feels and sounds great.. But NOTHING at all when powered...

What's up? Just a fried sub? I don't get it.. Never seen a Sub completely unresponsive like this.

Bust out the dmm and test the coils.'

No response = no power, leads came undone or coils blew in half lol

I thought using a 9volt or battery or higher to test whether or not a subwoofer is blown was common knowledge.. That's how a lot of people I know, amateurs or pro's alike test whether or not a speaker is blown.

Anyways, Gonna test and let you guys know..

try wiring it up, and when having music, push in the cone gently, if you get response then, your tinsel leads within the sub are torn from over excursion.

It should still do something. Try a dmm But I'm guessing broken lead

now you know rockford is junk. you tore a lead wire or killed the coil...

Ive never heard that before, interesting. Ive always tested my speakers in car with a amp i know is work. So if it dosn't play i know its the speaker, but that's good to know if i am amp-less i suppose.

But yea theres a short/open otherwise it would move to some degree or just make shitty noises lol

Yah man, awesome little trick to test subs.. +|+ -|- will make it jump up. Reverse the polarity and it will make the sub pull in.. Pro technique for checking how smooth a sub moves or if it's completely blown.

Anyways, taking my dmm to my boys and were gonna test the ohms and what not.. Also, how can I test the power of my headunit and amp to make sure everything is correct and on the same voltages.. Don't u have to have ur headunit voltage in sync with your amp? Thanks a lot in advance!
