Rockford Fosgate P3D4-12 VS Alpine SWR1243D ADVICE

Of coarse this is MY OPINION, and many will dissagree. and i will put this out there i am a little biased just like everyone else and a bit of a fosgate fanboy if anybody hasnt noticed.

I have compared both the new p3 and the new type r side by side, type rs in a cobalt (2 12s) and p3s in a grand prix (2 12s) both same box not sure of the specs but it took us over an hour to get it in the cobalt, i would say maybe 3-4 cubes net. and if im not mistaked around 33 hrtz.

Type r: i thought that it sounded good through all volume levels, but when the lower notes came the p3 had a slight advantage, to my ear, and of coarse there are many factors that could differ from cars i thought that the p3 was quite a bit louder as did the two guys that owned the cars. part of this could be do to the fact the the p3 has a slightly bigger cone.

overall i personally like the p3 it seemed to have more of a "punch"(no pun intended), and the type r seemed to have an overall smother responce, so if you listen to a lot of jazz and such i would go with the type r.

P3, new ones look sick
I think that the overall look, and feel of it is solid, i know it has more plastic that other brands but the type r has even more than the p3, it all comes down to personal prefferance they are really close in performance.

Alright i'll just think about it for little bit. Thanks for all the reply's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Oh and i got one more question should i get the Rockford Fosgate Prime R1000-1D 1,000-Watt Mono Amplifier to power my two subs? or can I get a cheaper Amplifier?

actually that amp is super efficaent close to 90%, i have one in my fiances car it definitly does rated power, and drawls little.......i would also look at the 1200d thing is super small, and efficent also.

In response to your amplifier question I'd go with a Hifonics 1000.1. You get a whole lotta bang for around $140 bucks (about 1/3 of what you're going to pay for Rockford 1000.1 or Alpine 1000.1). And they're CEA compliant which just means it's putting out what it says. It's going to give you plenty of power for p3's or Type r's (both great subs IMO). Hope this helps.......

That CEA you talk of means it does rated power at 4ohm. They dnt not test it at 1ohm nor do they tell you what type of distortion it was producing. So in other words CEA means jack crap and is used as a gimmick to sell crap..
