i hooked up my 12w3 JL's to my 300 watt (rms) amp (2 channel) i made a custom box for it and eac speaker has 1.3 cubic enclosed feet to perform. now heres the thing when my system starts bumping the 2 12's sound like they are ripping its not just goen bump bump bump itll go bump ripriprip now there not blown or anything or ripped but it sounds like there about to i was wonderin if you guys had any suggestions on how to fix it or what it my be.

P.S. have you seen those sick looken W7's (JL Audio) they look so clean and look like they can put some heavy bass out. Plus those 54 pound MTX 15 oh my god has anyone heard that speaker.....

when they are new you are supposed to break them in.

dont max them out at high volumes off the bat.

let them get used to ALL frequency ranges, play alot of "bass mechanic" cd's, AKA: Pink Noise. you can buy these CD's at any CD store mostly. then after they get broken in, they can with stand more abuse you throw at them (i mean sound abuse, not physical),, well, did you break them in?

there's prolly your reason right there. subs are just like baseball gloves. when they are new, they are 'hard' and don't perform like you'd expect them to. you gotta work them in,

like the glove, fold it, play catch with it, hold a ball in it for a few days, let it take shape.

same with subs. let them get used to what they are supposed to do, as they have never done it before. you gotta let everything break in.

Crap! I'm glad I read this post before I intalled my sub. It was going in tomorrow! How long should you break them in for? It about half volume the max I should play it at for a few days and is basically any kind of music with bass ok to break it in with?

when i throw mine in, im gonna break them in for about 1 week. any kind of music is good, but those bass mechanic CD's are the best. you can buy that at any CD store or car audio.. they play almsot all frequency's, so your subs will get used to playing @ dif. freqs. the first time i play mine, im gonna have it lower than half way volume up. then eventually work my way up, up and down, side to side. then it'll be nice //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
