ringing noise

I have my component amp running with no problems, then i split the rca to run a second set to the sub amp and i get a faint ringing noise in the component speakers. It doesn't make any sense to me that I would get noise in my component speakers from plugging the rcas into another amp.

Initially I had the second set of rcas running out of my component amp's rca outputs so i thought it was something wrong with the component amp, but even when i split the rcas before they go into the comp amp i still get the noise. The really weird part is that my component amp is 4 channel and if i split the rcas and run the 2nd set into the component amp's second rca input i dont get the noise.

im starting to worry its a problem i with my sub amp, but the sub amp is brand new

You have a ground loop that is being introduced by your subwoofer amp into your component amp through the RCAs. To do it properly, you SHOULD run another set of RCAs to your subwoofer amp, but it could still introduce noise via the HU.

First thing I would do is check the subwoofer amp's grounds. Many individuals DO NOT make a proper ground, which requires scraping/wire brushing/sanding the vehicle's metal to get a nice, clean, shiny surface. Next the crimp has to be nice and solid to the ground wire and the crimp has to be nice and tight against that clean/shiny metal!

If that doesn't work, I would recommend grounding the shields on the RCAs to the chassis.

does your h/u have sub pre-outs? if so wouldnt you HAVE to use those?

i feel ur pain. i just put in a new 4 channel amp 2 days ago for my highs. had to take dash apart, pull up the carpet on the passenger side floorboard, pull out the kick panel, take out some of the door liner, all just to run 1 set of rca wire. its worth it. take the time n do it right.
