Ringing ears...

I won't ever forget the time I bought auto ear plugs(you can hear anything below like 90db but the material is supposed to close off on any sound above that) anyway me and a friend head to the indoor range with the beretta 92fs s&w 40cal and the bersa 380 and 1000 rounds between the 3 weapons, ear plugs malfunctioned on the right side, I thought they just took some getting used to NOPE! I couldnt hear for about two weeks just this ungodly loud high pitch whine, needless to say they no longer sell those at that range and they went against policy and gave me a full refund and 100rnds free for my 9mm, I would still rather have those two weeks of my life back it was hell going to sleep with that sound stuck in my head.

The gun was loud but, to me, it was the massive overpressure from it that seem to do the most damage.

The muzzle break seems to throw a good portion of the blast out the sides and straight back.

Between that and the round ejections, I had to clean my glasses every 10 rnds.

wat up yo?

the reason for the muzzle break deflecting out and backwards is to take some of the kick out of the weapon right? All I have are handguns being in the city I've been meaning to pickup a short barrel semi auto shotgun for the house but ended up ordering the crimson trace lg-302 rubber wrap laser grips for my 9mm(I figure it will be used before anything else for self defense) it's about all I can shoot without driving an hour each way into N.C.!

The break's ports do angle somewhat to the rear but only on the sides, no ports on the rear of the brake.

just spent some time looking at that gun your talking about, you mean the M107A1 right? Is it yours, if so you lucky s.o.b.! I would love to have one but where the hell would I shoot it? I think I would lose my range membership the second I walked through the door!

My cousin has the M99 and there are only a handful of outdoor ranges that will let him shoot it.

Other than that, I agree, the 50s are fun to shoot.

EDIT: Just talking about these makes me want to do another custom Remington 700 in .308.

god that is f'ing awesome looking whats the range on one couple miles right?
Not my rifle, company gun.

Max range is somewhere in the 5k yd area and max effective range on hard targets it 2k yds.

I am sure in the right hands, it could take a human target out at 2 miles. IIRC, the record is 1.6 miles for this gun on a human target.

You got to think, there are MANY factors that come into play shooting at those distances. Besides bullet drop, wind drift and gravity, you will now have to factor in the curvature of the earth along with bullet twist drift and the Earth's rotation into the equation. Temp and altitude will also play a much bigger role as well.

Hey, Gunz4me2, I have a nice, suppressed ADL in 700 Win mag here.....

But with that, the .50's are a "blast" to shoot.....I am just glad I do not have to pay for ammo!

Monday I will be behind a nicely moded M1A showing it's capability's out to 800yds.

ive shot 2 custom colt 45's no ear protection and a m4a1 with a half acog scope . never wear hearing protection. i dont think i need it lol.

but my ears itch after 20 secs of low bass o_O

I'd get a pump for two reasons... number one would be reliability. Number two... just racking that ***** will diffuse most any situation, keep the chamber unloaded and rack one in when you hear an intruder... everybody knows exactly what that sound means. I'd go with a 12 gauge with #9 short shells up front backed up by two magnum 00 buckshot shells. Up to about 21 feet it's all about the same, the buckshot is just there in case the intruder is so hopped up on something that you have to remove his head to stop him. If you get to the 00 pay attention to the direction you are shooting in. It will easily go through walls and injure or kill friends or family members on the other side. The #9 would pepper them at worst after penetrating two layers of sheetrock.
