Riddle Me This...

yeah 140 doesn't happen in home theatre. In a home 120db's is silly loud, that's like a 150 in car audio, like the holy grail. Partially because of lack of cabin gain, and partially because people in ht want a flat response so a big hump from 45-55 doesn't count as a 120, generally they want it from 80 to 20 or lower with mids to match

Had to be louder in the truck. Shook the sh_t out of the steering column and keys.

Pretty sure pa amp gave it more power than my us amps og 500 watt at the time. Prob why it seemed louder in the room.

Your house has almost zero noise floor. Your van's noise floor is probably around 80-90 dB at low freqs. Turn the system up to the volume that you normally listen to it while driving down the highway at 70 and leave it there as you come to a stop and shut the engine off.

Also, how much of that 1kW is on the subs?

Yes that is true about the noise floor.

I actually have 1.2k on subs and 300+ on the mids and highs, but still....

I get the point, It does sound loud when you pull in and stop the car with the volume up.
