Why does it take over 1000 watts and a lot of speakers to play my music loud enough in my van.

But it only takes 100 on the surround and a 100 watt active 10" sub in my house to knock?

My friends threw a house party back when i was 18 (ten years ago). Used a box out of three friends cars. A 2x10 sealed, a 2x12 sealed, and a 2X12 bandpass in the living room, running off of car amps and a bunch of 12v batts. All boxes where in house with doors and windows closed. I started hearing the music 2 blocks away as i was walking there. The whole house was shaking as i walked up. I guess the room amplifies the sound

Yeah I can see that- hell it's three boxes.

I had a 18" jbl gti in my dorm room one year on a pa amp.

It was sick, shook the whole dorm- Big up paddyforte- the pj's- FAMU circa -92

sorry, forgot to mention three shitty boxes. talking about jensen subs and amp shitty. Only one mid size jensen amp from what i remember.

Yeah the gti was in a custom birch box with 2 6" round ports- 7-8 cubes if I can recall. Loudest thing I ever owned. I don't think my 1200 watt set-up is as loud.

Anything that you had in a room will be louder in a vehicle. Get a spl meter and check it out...simple reason, less air to pressurize.
