This thread makes my head hurt. What you are suggesting is that because you can bench press 150 pounds, it will be OK if you put 100 pounds on one side and 50 pounds on the other. Its' 150 pounds, right?
A 8" woofer will not play in most cases as low and a 15" usually won't play as high. So when you go to crank it up, the lowest lows will not be as loud and at the high end you might have the same thing. Now, if you had 2 15" woofers, or 4 8" woofers, you just go in with an EQ and raise whatever frequency is lacking. With the setup you suggest you are just going to overwork and probably push some of the drivers harder than they want to be pushed.
