RG6 Coax as RCA??? Your thoughts?

magicman

Yes, I made you do that!
I understand that RG6 Coax isnt very flexible, but I am designing my system in such a way that I can use it if it would work. My question to all of you audiophiles is this....

Will RG6 work as an RCA cable? It seems legit. The shielding is superior, the stinger in the middle is thick and solid so it seems thats the signal would be very efficient. I just want to know the pros and cons before I actually start cutting and using the RG6 out of my box.

Thank You in Advance.

i just read the forum about this subject. Sorry to "make ya look" lol. Ill still read what you all have to say if you want to post. My headunit has the brain at the back of the jeep, so no wires from the front to the back, so no worries about flexibility in my system. Plus, Im building my amp rack where the RG6 can plug straight in with no "Pulling" issues. Thanks for all of your knowledge.

You can buy RCAs from monoprice.com that are made with RG6 cable. RG6 is the standard for satellite TV installations now. If you're building the cables yourself it's not very fun to work with. Good luck.
