all right i ahve 2x8" RF punch XLC subs specs are as follows:

All XLC Series Subwoofers Include:

Dual Laminated Foam Surround

Hyper-Extended Pole Piece

Magnet Bumper

Aluminum Former

Spruce Pulp Paper Cone

Aero Vent Base Plate

Dual Laminated/Progressive Flat Spider

XLC Series RFP-2408 Subwoofers Include:

8" "Punch XLC" Mobile Subwoofer

Single Voice Coil

Power Handling: 200W (RMS) 400W (max)

Nominal Impedance: 4 ohms

Sensitivity: 85dB

They are right now hooked up to a Hifonics Zeus z400 Amp, running great, i belive at 2 ohms

I also have 1x 12" RF Punch Power DVC sub, currently ampless....

The specs for this is as follows :

Impedance 4 ohms x 2

RMS / Peak Power 1000 / 2000 Watts

Sensitivity 87dB

FS (Hz) 24

The question is - can i/ should i wire this 12 up at 2 ohms with a JBL 1200.1? Will it work?

I have a deck with 2 x 2.2V preouts... I am also planning on adding (very shortly, likely before adding the JBL amp) 6.5" Infinity Reference 605CS components to the front stage. Looks like i'll be splitting one preout between the two sub amps and using the other one for the seperates, amke sense? any reccomendations on the wiring? thanks

hi

i also have a 12" RF Punch Power DVC sub, it is wired at 2 ohms. you have 2 options to wire this sub 2 ohms or 8 ohms . take your pick, either is fine acording to rockford.

mykeys, how the heck do you think im gonna blow a 2000Watt peak, 1000 Watt RMS DVC sub with a 1200 W amp?!

That JBL isnt rated to much higher than 1300 Watts RMS, at 2 ohms.

Also, isnt Rockford known to underrate, especially in years gone by, seeing as this is a 2000 model year sub, shouldnt i be fine? dont worry, i wonbt be playing 'volume master', i'll be keeping the gains down, and such.

The JBL1200.1 is JUST FOR THE 12" PUNCH POWER DVC

Sorry man....I am having a real problem with skimming today.. I saw the 200 watt 8 and skimmed the rest..I am gonna have to pay better attention or sped time in the corner not playing on the cpu..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif

If you are planning on getting components and a seperate amps, I'd get yourself an external crossover/equalizer, most of them have 2 inputs and 3 outputs with a seperate output for your sub, worthwhile investment rather than splitting preamp outputs

ok, i now ahve the 2 8's running like b4, the 12 is still ampless, for alittlw hile longer also, and i have bought and installed Infinity Reference 605CS 6.5 Comps, and in the next week or so, i think i'll be getting some infinity reference 6*9's too.

they have no amp yet and are still running off the deck.

as will the new set be.

ANYWAYS, i forgive you mykeys :p lol and would like to know how muhc those external xovers/equalizers run? is it worth it to invest, or should io just forget that and wait till i get my new deck?

xovers and equalizers run anywhere from $60 for a cheap on to $300-$400 for a really really good one...I run an MTX ($120) and it has worked very good for me for almost a year now. It helps with the preout problem and makes it MUCH easier to shape and control the staging and sound of your stereo.
