RF HX2 or DC Level 3?

So I just picked up a pair of NIB (never used) year 2000 RF Punch HX2 15s.

The biggest box that'd possibly fit into my car would be exactly to their manual spec. 2.5 cubes net each, 4" aero port each (intend to to tune to 30-32)

Or I keep the box I have in the car already (for two 12", around 1.85 cubes net each, 32hz, 64" port area) and buy a pair of DC Level 3 12s (older gen, 600w RMS).

Either pair will be receiving 1.5kw of power.

So what would you guys do? I know the DC subs are more beastly, and will take more abuse and power then the Rockfords, but it is much more cone area on those 15" HX2s. My goal is SQL.

I just got rid of two 12" hx2's for two T1 12"s the hx2's don't seem to have the same sound quality as other woofers they do get loud but if I where you I would sell while there in there peak condition.

You should be able to do more on both sides of the SQL (sq and spl) with the HX2s. They are no match for the old Power HX2s but still a wonderful sub. Definitely be enhanced by the larger cone area. With the same power, they should by all means beat the Lv3s hands down.

Thanks guys. It sure is something to think about.

But if I stepped it up to 3kw, then the DCs would be by far better for that kind of power then the Punch HX2s yes? They both have 3" 600w RMS rated coils but I take it the more modern DC subs have better thermal handling.
