The best SS right now....

HANLEY RAMIREZ

AVG .332 | HR 29 | RBI 81 | OBP .386 | SLG .562 | HITS 212 | RUNS 125 | SB 51 | FLD .963 | E 24

Give him a few years and the Es will go down Im sure.

Best fielding shortstop = Yuniesky Betancourt of the Seattle Mariners. He's a magician. A decent hitter too. He's young and improving.

Best Shortstop = HANLEY RAMIREZ x2

Jeter = way over hiped. He's not even the best shortstop on the Yankees (Rodriguez is).

Ramirez makes some dumb mistakes, but he is still young and will get better in time. Wouldn't say he is in the same league as Reyes as far as fielding, but his bat is something else, plus he is just as fast, but again can be dumb on the bases as well. If he would make less mistakes, he would be up there with Reyes and Jeter.

They're at different points in their career so it's a little difficult to compare the two. Reyes TWO years ago was awesome. Last year he put up nice numbers but he seemed to lack motivation/hustle. Jeter is a pure baseball guy but has lost a lot of range. The clutch hitting is key though.

If Reyes stays what he was two years ago I'd take him hands down RIGHT NOW. Age is the deciding factor. If it was Jeter's fourth year I'd opt for him.
