RE's - XXX's

Oh, we'll see about that...they just need a little repair, as the basket on one of them is broken, and I am in the process of talking to RE about it all. This whole situation really sucks...meh.

So, they will not work together hey...what to do, what to do?

I wish someone would buy me. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Could be fun!

I was thinking...a seperate amp and an active crossover and make some boom...my **** doors are gonna be like 300 lbs. each soon. **** SPL vehicle trying to be SQ...just not working properly!

I am now looking at some RE RE's in each of my doors, and the XXX's drivers in the back on the strut towers, and my 2 ATOMICS in the hatch. Sounds good to me!!! Rather have the XXX's up front with the drivers, but there just isn't any room. Maybe something creative under the dashboard firing down at the drivers and passengers feet.

If you put them in back, what frequency range would they be playing? Midbass?

IMHO, just seems like a waste to go through the expensive of buying an active xover and additional amplifier power for them, just to toss such nice speakers in the back. If you absolutely wanted something back there, I think it would be better to go active with the frontstage using the XXX mids and RE tweeters, then put the RE mids in back (and cross them using the passive for the lowpass, and use the highpass built into the amp).

OK...need all the opinions I can get. Here are my two options:

I currently have a set of RE components in my posession, and a set of XXX mids. What do I do? Send back the XXX mids and get the RE RE's I was supposed to have, giving me 2 pairs (1 for spare), or do I try to make the XXX mids work with the RE tweeters and buy an active crossover?

I know people will think that I am stupid for wanting to get rid of the XXX mids, but the thing is that they may not fit in my door, and I would need an active crossover, and I would need to get a more powerful amp. I currently have a 4 channel amp for the speakers which is 60x4 RMS.

Sorry for the rambling, but I don't know what to do!! I need help as the options are bothering me and I need advice ASAP!!!

Thanks guys, remember, send it to your friends.

Made the decision after talking to Mark somemore. I am going to keep the RE RE's and the XXX's. I am going to make them work. Active crossover or not, I will figure it out. What would you do in this situation?? How would you set it up?

Shawn

Depending how good the crossover is on your 4 channel amp you might not need an active crossover.

The XXX mids are 2ohm, so you will get more power from your amp, unless the 60x4 rating was at 2ohm...
