replacing subs-- W7 or solo-baric L7?

First let me say I'm new to this forum, I spend most of my time over on the SHOForum but happy to find you...

I have a Taurus SHO that was broken into. Had Kenwood excelon head unit, JL 500/1 amp and two 10JLW3 in the HO box. Now I'm looking to replace. I bought the Alpine cda-9835 and love it and am going to be getting the JL 300/4 and 500/1 (again) latter this week. I've heard the W7 and it's insance but I don't really need all that bass. IYO, how would one kicker 12 L7 sound, I've never heard one of the square ones but I have heard the old ones and they sounded good. I was very happy with the bass the W3's were putting out. at about three times the cost as well.

If you want SQ, do the L7 12" in a 2.0 sealed box with 50% polyfill, if you want more output, do a 1.75 or deeper 2.25 ported box for more output...

Wow......W7 or L7......even though they both have a 7, that's a really weird selection to choose from. One is around $200, one is around $600. What do you have in mind - something that sounds great, somtehing that sounds pretty good and is pretty loud, or something that is just downright loud?

If you want the sq with SPL, and have the money for the w7 go for it. If not the L7 gan get loud, but doesnt retain as much sq.

IMO the square's don't sound anything like the round solo's. I liked the round solo's a lot better.

Anyways....why are you limiting your selection to just those two subs? Have you looked into other brands such as Resonant Engineering, Adire, Elemental Designs, etc? Sounds like maybe a RE SE/SX or Adire Koda sub might be right up your alley.

Yea I realize the W7 and L7 are huge differences, I guess I'm just not sure if I want rediculous bass or just good base. I'd like to focus on SQ but I'd want it to be able ot crank up pretty decent when I feel like it.

I haven't really looked into anything else, had good luck with both these brands so I just figured I'd stick with them.. any other suggestions?

Oh yea, and spending a 1/3 of the price on tthe L7 is also very attractive. Thanks

What's not in the same category....the W7 and the L7?? If that's what you're saying then yes, I agree.....the W7 is in a much higher category than what the L7 is.

large sealed is a good SQ directed install for them
