Replacement for JL 300/2

So it looks like my JL 300/2 may have crapped the bed, I think a one of my comps may have grounded out to the door frame. Heres my system right now (blown amp included)

Eclipse 8445

JL 300/2

CDT HD 6.5" w/ upgraded tweets & x-overs

So a fairly small system, I really only need SQ. I may one day run a small (10") sub but for now what I have is fine. I guess my options are:

1) Get the JL fixed (where? how much?)

2) Buy another JL 300/2

3) Get a new amp.

So any better SQ amps out there for the same price about as a new JL 300/2 (and I mean ebay price, I would never pay retail for JL). Thanks.

might want to check out the aura amps. partsexpress is doing a buyout on them...great deal on some very decent amps.

i got rid of my 300/2 and got a zapco reference 360.4 and was much happier. but i went bigger and the 360.4 is for sale now. let me know if you are interested. it is in perfect condition.

Any good sites where I could get this? I've heard alot about Memphis but never used any of their products. Are all their products considered good quality or only certain lines?

i had a JL 300/2 too. i was able to compare it one on one to my AudioArt 100HC i bought after the 300/2 and it outperformed the JL in ANY means by far! i loved the 100HC.

so depending on your budget get one if you can get your hands on any )

i would say Zapco will be good/better too. i like the Z600 i have now very much. studio series (at least studio 500) sounds a bit too loud with most of the tweeters out there, the Z-series performs better in that issue. sounds a little warmer, not that analytic like the studio does.

but i dont really exactly know how a newer zapco would perform against a Z series :-|

and i saw DLS A3 is rather cheap over here. you could give it a try, its a VERY nice amp for SQ! same level as Genesis Dual Mono.

if you like warm and smooth sound go for audison. if these are all too expensive buy used )

if you really want SQ, go for the reference dc's. they arent outragous in price and have all the processing you will ever need. if you want to be a super pimp, go for the c2k with the dsp unit from zapco.

Well I can get a new JL for ~$250 on ebay + shipping. So that would be about my range, cheaper would be better but I dont want to make my new HU purchase a watse by going with a crappy amp.

On another note I checked the ground on my amp and where it connects to the car is loose, I could move it with my hand easily (and it sparked when I did it. . oops). Unfortunately I cant get a socket on it w/o taking the back seat off. Even being loose it still seemed to make plenty of metal/metal contact so I'm not convinced this is even the issue, but I'll tighten the bolt and see.
