Repairing an amp

My room mate just bought an older RF amp. I was actually excited for him, because these amps have always been reliable in my experience(If memory serves me correctly, it is a Punch 401S). Well we get it installed and wired up, turn everything on to start tuning and the left channel is right full of static. Switched RCA's, same issue, switched the right speaker wire to the left terminal, same noise. The problem has been trouble shot, and narrowed down to the left channel of the amp.

Now my issue is that I do not have experience knowing where that problem is at inside the amp, the internals look 100% fine. NOTHING looks wrong. Is there a way to fix it? If we can't fix it, I am going to have to go to the seller and try the "polite" method of getting him to come clean on his ripping off my room mate, and see where I am forced to take it from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Well that sucks. I can fix it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

It's an older amp that I was hoping someone knew how to fix it(and could explain it to me). I am not going to advise him to send it away to someone and pay to have it fixed. Thanks for letting me know you know how, but not helping at all. It's greatly appreciated. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Well I'm sure if I get my room mates money back, the seller will want the amp back. I would give it to you for shipping cost if he doesn't want it back though.

But I have tried getting ahold of him a couple times. No dice.

I guess I will have to take it to the next level and just find his house, wait on his doorstep with the amp and a big stick. I have never been scammed out of money or product, and I won't let it happen to my friends. We will get it resolved, I just wish we didn't have to do so much **** work to get there.
