Remote Wire to Head Unit Problem

I've got a JVC KD-s590, and I've got everything done with my hook ups in the car except for the remote wire. At first I though I had everything alright, but then the speakers werent working, so after doing various things we came to the conclusion that the remote wire is the problem. Now, the thing is that there is no slot just for the remote wire, so i put the wire into a slot where all the other wires were going, but still the amp wouldn't turn on. Do I have to put a metal clip thing on the wire then put it in or is there something else I have to do?

i'm talking about the remote wire going into the radio.

Tap into the red (acc) wire on the back of the radio.
