REM Wire On/Off Switch.

If you want it on when the car's off, just tap the cig lighter red wire, then run it to the amp. Cut it in half somehwere and connect both end to a switch.. whatever kind you want.

And you're done.

It's better to just attach it to the REM wire on the CD palyer, otehrwise you might forget it and leave it on when you leave the car, I've done it.

well the issue is the REM wire from the back of my radio doesnt seem to work. i dont know how. i have no clue.

as for the lighter way. were about could i find that to hook that up?

oh ok, any 12v source will work.... if i ever had that prob, i just tapped into the ignition. you just need a 12v source that will shut off when the key is off.

Do you have a multimeter? There are usually 2 wires connected to a cig. lighter harness, just your accessory and a ground (black wire). If you have a multimeter test it to make sure, if not trying plugging in something to it when the car is on/off to see if it gets power to make sure it is not constant. If it gets power while the car is on, but shuts off when you turn the car off, then tap into it and you're good to go.

You could also tap into an accessory in your ignition harness.

What kind of vehicle is it? Tapping into the cig. lighter is probably your best bet to be honest.
