relocating port

I have a box design for two twelves with the port kicking out to the side. I was wandering if i could keep the same port opening and length, but relocate it to where the opening is on the same side the subs are on? Would I have to redesign the whole port opening and length? Or would my frequency stay the same no matter where the port is at, as long as it is the same size and all?

i'm fairly sure you can move it around as long as length and area are the same

yep your right just make sure the end of the port is at least the width of the port from the wall...... IE width of port 3" make sure the end of the port is at least 3" from the back wall.
