Relay/Wiring Question

Maybe this is just one of them given questions that I should know without asking but I want to be sure all my ducks are in a row before I do anything. What gauge wire should I be using off of a relay? 18 Gauge?

for coil control, 18 awg is fine. for the contacts - whatever the load is. most relays have 30A contacts which would mean up to 10 awg wire.

What are you switching with the relay?

Right now I know I am doing 2 amps, and I was thinking of putting a fan in to bring in air which got me thinking about putting the relay in.
