Relay wiring question

I've read a few different conflicting wiring diagrams off the internet for wiring an SPDT relay to run the amp's turn on leads, lights, fans, etc.(using the car's battery and the deck's remote lead as the switched 12v) I'm looking for a straight up answer as to whether this is the correct way to wire this:

-#86 connected to deck's 12v turn on lead

-#85 grounded out

-#87 to fans, amp REM's, lights, etc

-#30 to car's battery

This is the 12v relay found here: http://www.cardomain.com/item/SOUIECRL30

Thanks

Yes and no...it depends on if you are using the normally closed connection or not. (pin 30 is connected to 87A until power is applied to the coil, once power is applied, pin 30 will be connected to pin 87)

Lets say you have a red and green light. pin 30 is connected to +12V, the + of the red light is connected to pin87A and the + of the green light is connected to pin 87, (and the -'s for the lights are grounded.) with the coil deenergized, the red light will be on and green will be off. apply voltage to the coil, and then the green light will be on and the red will go off.

It wont work if you swap pins 30 and 87.

In your case though, it would work just fine.
