Ok guys i got an idea for my project car. First off its a 1964 Buick Riviera. Im wanting the sub and ports to face the front of the car.

What i want to do is basically have like a blow thru box in a coupe, also replacing my reardeck somehow having the reardeck smoothly modeled together with the front of the box, the rear seats will have to be replaced to racing seats. I was looking to put 1 18" BTL but after looking at the pics from the trunk doesnt look possible, now im thinking 4 10" ssd's or Q's, or even 2 10" BTL's.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Does the bracing behind the seats serve any purpose? Would be ok to have a blow through box in place of the bracing

heres what the back seat looks like:

Do not cut them out. It messes up the suspension and you get a lot of creaks and groans.

If anything, you can remove the insulation from the back seats. I cut mine and if I had it to do over I wouldn't

oh man that sux so much for that idea, how is that bracing tied to the suspension? or maybe i can fiberglass the subs into the rear deck somehow
My car is a uni-body, so it is different. I think it serves a couple purposes...

keeps the rear deck level...additional connection for the left and right side of the car.

You don't have to cut anything to get sound inside the trunk..You may be able to port through the deck or something. Think of all options before cutting anything (speaking from experience)

True. Im just trying to get extremely loud, as u can see i dont have much trunk space so im trying to get closer to the cabin as possible

Well, here are a couple additional thoughts...

I think you are competing (or atleast strongly getting the urge) regularly. What you could do (for bass race anyways) is build an enclosure that sits on the back seat and take it in-and-out for competing. For non-bass race events you can always unbolt the seats and fold them down.

Sound doesn't get too too muffled by the presence of rear seats. You can always unbolt them and then lay them against the seat-back. Another option is to modify the seats so the ports exit into the cabin that way...and you could build a taller box.

if my seats would fold down that would be great but they are stationary. im thinking about porting the rear deck with 4 ssd's or q's
You can unbolt them...you don't have to have a mechanism to raise and lower them. Shake the bottom part of the seat or push it in...like from the front and push toward the back and it will come out. The seat belt bolts are the same bolts that hold the seat-back in place. Lift out lay down.

Also porting through the rear deck may pose a problem as the holes for 6x9s(or whatever) may be more forward in the trunk. Ie... they won't be coming straight out the top unless you build you box with a step.
