Refurbished units? Opinions?

What are you guys' opinions on refurbished double din touch screens? I was posting about 2 weeks ago on what unit to buy and i decided to go with the Kenwood DNX5140. On amazon there is a refurb for 499, should i just drop the extra 100-150 to get it brand new or do you think a refurb is safe??

Refurbs are probably ok but you never really know. Give it a shot and see if you can even tell it's a refurb..... if it has a warranty. Usually factory refurbs have a factory warranty period so you really have nothing to worry about.

30 day warranty where as the one for 100 more comes with whats listed as 3 years, not sure if there is any catch to it.

The HU is the heart of the system. Would you rather have a new heart to pump your blood or a donated (Refurbed) heart? A HU is the one thing I will not buy used or refurbed unless it's to collect. I bought a refurbed Pioneer Premier 980BT(for my wife) and 6 months later the display started acting up. Me personally, I wouldn't do it.
