I was looking to buy the Kenwood eXcelon XXV-01D but i only found refurbished ones. I was wondering if any 1 ever bought a refurbished HU from this site and if buyin a refurbished HU is just a bad idea all together? If i dont get this HU im goin have to settle for a new eXcelon kdc-x890. Would that be a beter idea? To buy a lil worst version but new?

I have no personal experience with that particular e-tailer.

Having said that buying refurbished ostensibly is an okay idea as refurb'ed units are supposed to be quality checked to operate the exact same as a BNIB unit.

Unfortunately, though, the sad truth is buying refurbs can be a hit or miss endeavor. Some people have had really good experiences as they've gotten the gear they wanted at a considerable savings over buying new and those units worked fine for them.

Others have gotten refurbs from various places and those units broke very soon after getting them installed.

When buying refurb gear make certain that there is some sort of warranty coverage available is the best advice I can give you.

Durn nice HU (the XXV-01D), though! That's what I run myself. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

That looks like a nice deck.....I might think about it myself!! I bought my Planet Audio P-850D as a refurb, and its working flawlessly ( 1 ohm all day LOL)

The 30 day warranty is nice too

Goose,

I cannot tell you whether you'll get a good condition deck as that is just hit or miss.

However, I can recommend the vendor as I recently bought an XXV-01D from them via Ebay (I think that it's actually a little more through Ebay than directly). They answered all of my questions promptly and shipping was very fast. I received the unit in great condition and have been using it for 1 week. If you are concerned about the warranty, I think that you can get an extended warranty from them for about $39 which will cover up to 2 years.

I was in the same boat as you in that by the time I learned of this deck, it was no longer available new from any vendor.

Good luck with your search.
