Redtop Optima

Why would you get a redtop and not a yellowtop?
because he does not nessesarily need a yellowtop. unless he likes playing his system with the car off for a long time he really doesnt need it. i can play my sub with the car off at a moderare volume for a good hour or so and stay above 12 volts.

also, to answer the question asked, a red top will be fine. i do not get nearly as bad of voltage drops or dimming as i did with the ac delco bat that was in there. its a wicked battery and you should be fine.

I have always heard that optima batteries are not the best for car audio. They're just not designed for the type of work that you want it to do. Whereas actually car audio batteries like kinetic, stinger, batcap, deca, etc. are. Something about them being able to discharge faster...

I didn't know redtop's were cheaper than yellowtop's?

my red top was $148+tax with a return of my old battery but it comes with a 3 year warrantee.

the yellow top was $198+tax with only a one year warrantee

When you connect that power wire from your amp to the power wire

Your warrany is voided on a redtop

some people will argue that but when i had mine in 97 after the first one went they checked and said that very thing.....true story and the warranty says not for audio use. i know people here like optima and some dont. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/ join and look up optima i think you will see a ton of thoughts. when i buy / use something i dont want to NEED to use a warranty. it either means you need a jump start, a tow or to bum a ride in that situation.

when i bought my red top last summer, i was told that i have a 6 year warantee on it. i can just bring it back to him no questions asked and he will warantee it for me..(he is an spl competitor btw) and yes, he is a legit dealer lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

how would optima know you used it for car audio use? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

My optima red top came with a 9 year warranty from walmart. And being an ex-employee I know that they couldnt give a crap about what you use it for, If its bad they warranty it.

Also as I mentioned in a previous thread. Interstate themselves told me that for regular car audio use the warranty is fully valid. Just dont use it for Deep Cycle aplications.
