right now i have my cvr12s in a sealed, 3.78cuft. box. they're both wired at 2ohm, getting 300watts each. When I did this, my store (work at lowes) was out of 3/4" MDF so i got a sheet of 1/2" , and I noticed it didnt sound as good as when I had it out of 3/4". There are no leaks that I can tell, went around all joints with it playing to feel for air. Any recomendations on size? sealed or ported? im re doing this on friday, so I wanna do what I need to have it sound better

no mdf at lowes? wtf. I remember a lowes here went a week without 3/4" mdf, pissed me off.

anyways cvrs are like caged animals sealed. when you port them they "come to life" in terms of performance IMO. 2cu.ft. per sub tuned to 35Hz would be awesome

yeah tell me about it.. had to remind my manager to call for a shipment. anyhow.. i cant squeeze 4cuft into my trunk (mustang) which is why im havin problems, and why ive been running sealed. any other recs?

As far as i can tell, those subs do decent with either ported or sealed. Ive had them in tiny *** sealed "truck" type boxes, they were alright, got fairly loud. Right now i got them in a little bigger box, dont remember the size and its a real odd shape i made it to fit in the rear of my 82 firebird. I tuned it to around 35-40, more towards 40 i think. Its got two 3" PVC pipes for the ports. If i remember correctly its only about 2 cubes or so, not much room in there. But if you can get more room id go bigger in box size. Definitely get the 3/4". If you have a menards store around you, thats where i bought my mdf.

That RE calc is sometimes kind of confusing, but i built my box for my DD 9515 using it, tuned to 37hz, 4.6 cubes according to it and it gets loud off low power. Maybe post the dimensions you have to work with or what size you want it someone can help maybe.

im in the market for 10''s but untill i get the funds for new subs and a real amp.. i wanna bump these..
They bump fine. Mine are the older model tho. They will get loud in smaller size like i said. Is that a hatch back or not? If so, trust me theyll get plenty loud in a hatch in smaller space, like my set up. Mine are only seeing 125rms per sub too.

H=14 W=38 D=20 are my absolute maxes, and thats probably forcing it once i get it turned to put it in. mine sealed right now get fairly loud.. im happy with it as is, just wanna try to get a little more.. at those sizes, with a 29.5 port lenght gives me 3.809cuft not counting displacemnt, and bracing. @ 35hrtz
