Reconing JL 12W7's?

Hello, I have two JL 12 W7 subs that need help. My truck was broken into while I was in a concert. Since the thief couldnt get my subs (since they were bolted down in a custom box) he got mad and must have taken a screwdriver and slit the cones.

Can these subs be reconed? If so, is it worth having it done? One of my friends said that only JL can recone them and that it would cost me so much to have it done it would not be worth it, and I'd be better off buying new ones. Any help and info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

just cover it up with a big dustcap...you might not need a full recone depending on the damage
