I hooked this thing up today and it flat out doesn't work. If you put your ear up to the sub, you can hear a faint bass tone, but the thing doesn't move and you can't hear it. I triple checked the wiring and the amp is functioning fine, but I have no idea why I would be having these issues with a newly reconed sub. The only thing I can think of is my roommate slipped with a screwdriver when I first tried putting it in a few days ago, and poked through the surround, but it was a small slit and I sealed it up with "amazing goop" and let it cure. I don't think that has anything to do with it.
I noticed that the cone is super stiff and needs a decent amount of force to push down on it, and I can't remember my pre-reconed XXX being like this before, even when I first bought it. Any ideas?
UPDATE - After taking the sub out, I noticed I had the sub wired up wrong, I had the positive terminal going to the negative terminal on the other voice coil, and vice versa. Would that cause the issue that I described? Taking this thing in and out is a huge PITA and I am just curious if the wiring error was a coincidence, and the real issue was the shifting during transit?
