Recone Question?

I have a blown eD 19Ov2 down in my storage. It took a little abuse from a friend of mine and one of the coils blew.

I would like to recone this woofer since it would cost an arm and a leg to send it back to eD "shipping". Also, I would kind of like to learn how to do a recone since I haven't ever done one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

As far as I know The Coil is 2.5", and Spider is 8"

Maybe someone here can correct me if I'm wrong.

Questions:

Since eD does not sell recones unless they do it, where would be the best place to buy the softparts?

Any idea of how much it may cost to do it myself?

How much of the parameters will change? rms...box size...etc

if i recall correctly, the coil isn't exactly 2.5", but a rounded figure that is close. It may be difficult to find the exact size, but you can try to measure it for sure.

Thanks man. I will remove the soft parts and get exact numbers before I do any ordering.

You are in Carbondale? I live in STL now.....since I started school, but I used to live in Odin........Really small town right next to Salem.

gonna be hard to find 2.5" coils around.

Recones are normally ~100bucks

Yeah, TeamPSI supposedly has great soft parts. Top notch, and good priced. Dave's a good guy.

Are there not many subs that come with 2.5"?

eD's site says that the sub's VC is 62.5mm which came out to

2.4606299212625in

Thats more than likely a chinese coil which not many of the domestic places will have. Also reconing 2.5" drivers usually isnt very economical since most of them cost companies less than 100 bucks to make, and a recone costs close to that

It was probably going to be my cousins when she gets her license anyways. Maybe I will just tell her to pay to send it back for a recone if it is going to be that much of a hassle. I just know shipping is going to be a bish both ways.....

But I will still see what TeamPSI has to say.

I also had a member by the name of Haunz send me a pm and said that he probably had all parts except the cone. So maybe I will have some luck...

But he said it would not be a drop in recone and that I would have to put it together. Which I am a little stand off-ish about since it will be my first recone.
