Recone Options.. And something I loled at

So I have a 15" custom built Massive Audio DMX. My origional plan was to run 2 15"s but I changed my mind (surprise surprise). I have been looking and a couple options for recones.

18" Fi BTL recone:

I know my Fi BTL d2 loaded coil fit into the gap of the DMX, and I even talked to Scott about it at one point, who said the power handeling might not be the same because of the different motor. I am pretty sure in the right box it will take the Orion daily.

Cost: $125 Shipped

15" Massive Audio DMX recone:

Now of course it will fit, and its even rated at 3k SPL. One downside is the sxy carbon fiber cones are gone. Another is I couldnt get an 18". Upside is it wont be a mutt any more. Now the funny part, They ask $224 + $17 in shipping for just the soft parts. So...

Cost: $241 shipped

Almost double what it would be to do it from Fi, even when you add the cost of a new basket in there. Do you think it is sensable to go with the Fi recone? I know David is another option but I feel bad asking him for a price quote on this when I have another open project with him that is at a stand still until I figure some basket stuff out.

fi is cheaper, could possibly turn out good but the massive recone is made for this sub. something to dwindle on. id personally go with fi. also what are the specs on the fi btl coil? isnt that a very beefy coil?

Thats why I asked the Masses of CA and CACO!

I know Massive went throught R&D for their sub, but everything has room for improvment. The BTL coil is pretty beefy, and I think It should be able to take 2.5k RMS. I also think in terms of resale. I like to switch subs alot and try things out. Some people might try to beat me up on the price because its a hybrid and different.
