Recone Alpine Type X?????? Help!

Ok so one day last year my type x blows on me and just stops playing. I take it out of the enclosure and find the tinsel leads or watever the plastic things that connect the cone to the motor assembly have all come loose due to overexcursion. I had the gains set all wrong on the amp and essentially drove it to death. I have replaced it with a type R in the meantime but the sq is just nowhere near as good. Any body no if the type X can be re-coned? It was out of warranty when this happened, but I would guess a re-cone is possible? Any ideas/ suggestions?

what size is it? i have a pair of 12's, and thinking about selling one, to put the other in a sealed SQ setup

i was thinking about type-x's, but not even my l7 15's get as low as these crazy things.

i think i'd really regret it if i sold both

recone if availible would be expensive as fuk G/L man, maybe look for other companys besides alpine that might be able to recone it

ya, especially since most shops only sell the x's for 2/3 the MSRP anyways, so you're gonna end up paying almost that for the recone, if it has to come direclty from alpine.

i know a shop that will match my internet prices, without warranty, and beat the hell out of local prices WITH the warranty

he's a friend of a friend of a friend, and loves that i drive 45 minutes away just to go to a shop where the keeps and installers KNOW audio, technically, and practically, AND that i actually buy and don't just kick tires, i'm pretty sure any shop hates people who just hang out and boom bass in their parking lot, and ask them questions

nobody hangs out in front of the headshop and smokes weed out of the bong they just bought, gotta show your local shops the same respect, and they'll hook you up
