That's that amp I'm currently using. It's an Alpine 75x4rms amp that I have bridged to 2x200 rms for my front stage. I have an 04 BMW Z4 with an Eclipse deck, Hertz components, and the factory 6.5" subs behind the seats.
Along with the amp mentioned above, I also have the 600rms x1 @ 4ohms Alpine of the same line. I'm using it to push the factory subs behind the seats. Each sub is 4ohms, so I bridged them into an 8ohm load to the amp. Each sub can only handle about 100rms, so the 8ohm load with the gain turned down a bit seems to really do the trick. I wish the amp had a subsonic filter so I could filter out anything below 30, but I'm not that worried about it since the 6.5's i have upfront obliterate the factory subs behind the seats, and most of the time I have the subs turned down.
My issue is that the Alpine amp for my front stage isn't cutting it. I have it bridged, and while its supposed to be stable that way, I think with it being bridged and also using the passive crossovers that are included with my components is just a little too much. I have the amp installed in a not so well ventelated place (only option) and on any day over 75 degrees, it takes about 30 minutes before it over heats and shuts down.
WHen I had the amp running in its native 70x4 state, it did just fine. I had a set of focal components up front and infinity kappa 6x9's in back I could turn the deck up to 70 of max 80 and it would be loud and clear and never over heat. Now, if its hot out, like 80 degrees, and my volume is at 55/80, it will over heat in 15 minutes. If its not so hot out, it will still over heat in 15-30 minutes if the volume is higher than 60/80.
I'd like matching amps, but my amp on my factory subs is just fine and no problems. But I need to replace my front stage amp. I'd like something that is 250x2 native at 4ohms, and is a good quality amp on par with the alpine.
ANy recommendations? I'd like to spend only about $250 if possible.
