Recommend small SUV good on gas

'Bout to move to a new place on a dirt road. Ol' lady will need a small to mid-sized SUV that gets good mileage ... Any recommendations?

No power. He would have to mash on the gas to get over hills.

pretty sure it would be the same with majority of the others listed but more reliable.

The best gas mileage you will get out of a small suv is max of 19-20. one that isn't ridiculously small. the escape is ok but weak engine, maybe a jeep cherokee sport or classic, early 2000 or late 90's model, they have strong inline 6 engines (that last forever if taken care of properly) and are comfy, but ride rough. they are rugged, easy to work on, and parts are cheap. even the 90's models can be bought for cheap.

I guess I'm partial to jeep since I own one.
