Hi Guys,

Have just signed up to this forum, So if you would like to know more in that sense please visit my thread in New Members, Cheers.

Basically im starting a new system, I don’t have very big dollars to spend but I do like to buy quality not quantity!

The car the system will be going in is a Ford XR6 – 95 model.

Stock speakers as follow:

Front- Has 5.25inch’s in the doors, With a 4 inch up in the dash – Well at least I think?

Rear – 6 inch

I know not many SQ lovers like having speakers in the rear, but I would like 6x9’s in the rear, Followed by 5.25 two ways in the front doors, with a 4 inch up on the front dash.

The 6x9s and 5.25 can be amped, but I will run the 4 inch from the head unit.

My question- Basically I would like to hear some idea’s on brands for me, I want to get a fairly loud stereo, More SPL rather then SQ in saying that I don’t want a sound system as if it’s a band bashing on metal tins!

My budget will be around $200 for the 6x9s, $150 on the 5.25s and $100 for the 4 inch, And around $300 for a four channel amp.

Recommendations will be much appreciated, and if im completely in the wrong direction please advise me.

Thank you for your time,

Best Regards to all,

Ben

It would be much appreciated if some one could at least name a few brands I can look into....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif

Thanks

You're not going to get much help asking questions like you did. First, most people would tell you to ditch the rear fill as you shouldn't be able to hear it anyway. Second, saying "you want rear speakers", "quality but not quantity", and "more SPL than SQ" don't exactly jive together. So, I will make recommendations based on what I think would sound good, loud, and fits your budget (around $750 total) . Hope you appreciate it.

RAAMmat sound deadening (100sq.ft.) = $150.00 http://www.raamaudio.com

Knukonceptz speaker cables (everything needed, CHEAP!) = $100.00 http://www.knukonceptz.com

PG RSD5cs (5.25 components) = $75.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/PHOENIX-GOLD-5-25-240w-COMPONENT-CAR-SPEAKERS-RSD5CS_W0QQitemZ300204767393QQihZ020QQcategoryZ14941QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Kicker SSMB6 (6" Free Air Subwoofers) = $75.00 http://cgi.ebay.com/KICKER-SSMB6-SS-FREE-AIR-MID-BASS-SUBWOOFERS-6-5-NEW_W0QQitemZ130205955465QQihZ003QQcategoryZ18805QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Alpine MRV-F545 (125wx4 Amp) = 200.00(max I would bid) http://cgi.ebay.com/Alpine-MRV-F545-Car-Audio-Amplifier_W0QQitemZ130205981942QQihZ003QQcategoryZ39739QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I would ditch the 4" speakers unless you want to go 3-way active up front. This can be difficult to get it to sound good, so I went the simple "loud, clear, and good value" route for you. Those Phoenix Gold comps. can take the full 125 per channel that amp can give even though they are only rated at 60w. I would run them down to about 100hz on a 12db/octave slope (if you don't know what this means, research it, but your amp can do that). I would run the Kicker as subs/rear fill up to about 125hz on a 12db/octave slope. This setup will do everything I think you want it to, and run you about $600.00. You may end up paying more since you are in Australia, but you should still come out under $750. Do not skimp on the sound deadener, as that install will make more of a difference in your stereo than anything. I hope this helps, and if you have money left over, use it to get a good HU. One with time alignment, individual speaker eq, and built in crossovers will do wonders for how YOUR stereo sounds in YOUR car. If you don't plan to go active, the Sony CDX-GT705dx is a good option, it even has 4v pre-outs and a 24-bit burr-brown converter all for about $100.00 ( http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-SONY-CDX-GT705DX-CD-MP3-WMA-IN-DASH-CAR-RADIO_W0QQitemZ160217383025QQihZ006QQcategoryZ39753QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem )
