Recieved DLS Iridiums, PICS not 56k

hey vash why are ther called rainbow pro KICKBASS??? i saw one of the components and i think it was 5 1/4 "kickbass" i doubt a 5.24 could produce any KICKBASS so is it just the name or what?

Hmmm, 2 ohms running from the deck? i dont know about that.. might overheat ur HU. But better be sure and hit up Eclipse they would know for sure. If you can run ur dual mags, does that HU have a built in Xover or a low pass to run rear fill like that? Diamond Hexes... I think I would rather go with Rainbow Pro kickbass vandium if i didn't go with the dls. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

Ok I will call eclipse, right now they are rn in series and still sound as loud as the stock HU powered them.... Silly nissan and their 2 ohm speakers.

I have the Dual Mag passive crossoevers I could use with the stock speakers but I don't think that would sound right. The HU does have a built in X-over. However I don't know if I can X-over the rear from the front seperately, but they would probably like close to the same setting anyways. I think right now I have it set at 63 htz, But I don't have subs yet and I'm running the DLS crossovers in the front anyways lol.

Thanks.

How much did you get the DLS for and from where?
PM tplaya07 for DLS stuff. That's whom I got mines from, and he's cool guy to deal with. I just got my mdf ring baffles in w/ modeling clay and man huge difference. There's more kick in the bass and I think that's becuase of the extra weight on around the baffles. Iridium 8.3 is good stuff //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wowflash.gif.89a61f4caede63a11dac36e97d61323e.gif

I got mine from tplaya07 also 475 shipped.

I used some real Beefy weatherstripping foam on mine becase I was able to apply a ring of the dense foam inside of the bolt holes, I compressed the foam with Allenheads and Nylock Nuts, It was compressed very tight due to being able to Tighten down teh MDF with allen heads.

The only thing is I' not sure about the seal from the speaker itelf tot he MDF, there was no rubber gasket but it seemed pretty sealed already.

My Plastic door pannels are ratteling a bit, enough though I covered the inside of the pannel with RAAMAT, it's the outer part of the storage space where you can put drinks tools and crap that has no RAAMAT. I'm thinking about matting that part and covering it with foam on the inner side of the storage area so you can only notice the foam., which would also help things placed in it from ratteling.

Nice choice. I am in love with my Iridiums. Please consider my 2 cents on these speakers...

I don't know too much about the Eclipse you have, but if it is 3-way capable with a fleixible crossover, I highly recommend running your comps active. They come with incredible crossovers but you can really unlock the potential of the 6.2s by playing with corssover frequencies and slopes... My car sounded best after moving the XO point lower to 800Hz/6dB LP on the mid and 1600Hz/6dB HP on the tweeters. Time alignment is especially advantageous because of the non-resonant characteristics of the mids and tweeters.

Be aware that the UR1 tweeters are pretty directional. They are soooo sweet if you can aim them somewhat on-axis. I cna't say what will sound good in your car but some experimentation will reap great SQ rewards. I actually have 45 degree tweeter pods which aim them upward and inward, between the headrests. Beautiful sounding tweets.

I've heard the UR6 set in my car as well, and the Iridium midbass alone is responsible for 3x the imaging and soundstaging of the UR6.

Good luck with your install, please keep us posted with pictures!

I second on that qoute saying the UR1 tweeters being directional. It's true they are extremely directional to the point that, you might even hear teh tweeter on the OTHER DOOR clearer than the tweeter right next to you (THIS IS WITH IB ON FAR TOP CORNER OF THE DOOR). But with the tweeter on axis you can hear every detail, pops air sounds all that stuff W/OUT THE HARSHNESS, and the way the tweeters play those cymbals oh man. Thats good stuff. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/handclap.gif.0c301076f534e244f0460706894f19e0.gif

LOL I had the same thing hapen to me, the far tweeter seemed louder just because it was more on-axis than the driver side.

I agree here too, these tweeters are by far the sweetest I have heard. they have no problem playing down low, so moving the mid/tweeter crossover point lower to around 1200Hz really opens up the crucial midrange frequencies. With digital XO and time alignment, I feel absolutely no need to upgrade to 3-way front stage at the moment (Yet... and when i do it will be DLS!) sounds so smooth I am not even EQing yet. I am a tweakaholic, and with some patience+experimentation the Iridiums can be made to sound unbelievable!

I still have to play with my electronic crossover some more, but I think it only provides the Midrage cutoff for all speakers (excecpt sub), not for each channel of the amp, I would have to run the tweeters acticve to cross the tweeters seperately from the mids right?, My Tweeters are in the dashboard the windsheild on my titan is angled well soI feel it does a pretty decent job of reflecting the sound. If only I didn't have the tweeters ghetto ducttaped to the cardboard adapters I would feel a bit better. I think this location atualy helps with the imaging + time alignment. I do notice a pretty big difference using time alighnment and choosing Drivers side, Tweeters in dash, Speakers in doors etc. I tend to swap it from Drivers side to front often when I have passengers because it is so easy to do so.

My Passegers side door has developed a horrible rattle (from the sterio or just drving) It sounds like 2 pieces of styrafoam rubbing each other or nails on a chalkboard... I think a door clip holder is broken and the clip is vibrating around. It sounds HORRIBLE and is driving me crazy so I'm goign to remove the pannel again and squirt a shitload of silicone on it or something.
