Rebuilding a Classic BMW

I've had this 1974 BMW 2002 sitting in my yard forever. My grandfather gave it to me, and it runs, but it needs alot of money and TLC to get it on the road again without issues.

I'm thinking about gutting the interior and engine bay, and starting form scratch with new paint, rust fixed, and a motor rebuild.

Does anybody know how much it costs to do such a thing? There's a lot of Bimmer nuts out there who i'm sure know a lil' about it.

I'm just looking for a ballpark guesstimate on re-doing it.

Thanks

being a classic alone its gonna cost some real change..im somewhat in the proccess of restoring a `74 benz 280C*just needs alil body work and anew paint job*but the lil amount of parts ive bought so far has been alil pricey..the plug wires alone cost me alil over 100*got all the parts online*but heres a decent site where i got most mine..http://mercedes.thebenzbin.com/?year=1974&make=BM&imageField22222.x=31&imageField22222.y=15
