Rebuild my alt to a 220 amp, or buy one?

Alright, going to put a chevy alt on my truck (CS130). And dont wana go too crazy right now, but you can find a 220 amp rebuild kit for around 100 bucks, or buy a DB Electrical made alt for 220. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with either...

From what I understand rebuilds usually only up the amperage at high rpm. What vehicle is this for?

well, i know the db electrical one reaches 220 around 1500-1700 rpm...

itll be for a toyota truck. i really want the CS144, but not sure if i can fit it...

well, i might pick one of the rebuild kits up, and see how she does

Rebuilding reduces the alternator's life span because it wasn't designed for that extra current draw. IMO you're better off just spending the extra on an HO alt it will save you more in the long run
