Rebirth of a Legend....pt 1

I wouldnt have gone with TRF soft parts but itll still be loud...
i realllly want to do like a titanium cone w/ possibly a custom logo, TRF basket adapted to a QCA, fat surround, and beefier than normal coils........however this is all incredibly expensive and the price I got for the TRF parts was definitly reasonable....

....not to mention finding a 4hp male AND female QCA adapters by themselves is about as rare as you can get.....

So I went back and beefed up those tensile stitching some more. I noticed the stock stitching had the tensiles in there pretty snug, and the ones I had made were noticably more loose. After adding more stitches all the tensiles feel as snug as they should be. I also put some threads around the middle humps of the tensiles to (hopefully) keep thier movement a little more uniform, though I'm not sure if it'll really help much....those tensiles will be shaking violently regardless.... I also added a little electrical tape to the ends of the tensiles to allow just enough exposed tensile for the speaker wire crimping.

damnit bro.... now i cant stand up for like 10 mins without having a pillow in my lap!!!!
looking sick!
it has been nice having it's beastiness showing off in my living room for the past week....but im dyin to get it back in the car....

I'm getting a trf dustcap tomorrow or wed put on and then it's good to go...i'm also waiting to get my HO alty repaired in the next week to two.... which will be the perfect amount of time to get the suspension broken in before I start sending serious juice to it.

NICE!!
what size coil is that?
how's that mids/highs setup working for you? for alittle while there i wanted to use an 8's in my doors for midbass in my 3 way active but the plan eventually got scrapped. i want to know what crossover cutoffs are you usign for the 8's? and how do you like the other speakers?

I recently overhauled my EQ/tuning for my front stage since i was getting some weird crackling in the lower midrange on certain songs and it was driving me nuts. Turns out the "staging" option on my avic N5 isnt realyl a t/a...it's moer of a eq boost, an unwanted eq boost at that. I retuned around that option being off now and WOW it's back to hell nice. I gave my midbass/pods a lil more juice and they are really shining now too. It's amazing what quality difference can be had with just a lil patience.....

that set up is still in work... so i'll let you know when it gets done, lol

but for an 8" midbass driver in the door, i usually run a range between 100-300 hz.... keeps it low enough to feel the puch, but high enough that your mid range doesnt feel like its lacking either... but it all depends on each set up, u kno

as far as the cadence cwm's go... there are better speakers out there... but they really are a great component set for the price... eventually i would love to throw some focals in, but i just cant see myself paying that much for components, lol

sooo......just waiting for the dustcap to come in the mail...had some minor delays with that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

the surround is also having some issues....the surround is an original part from 2002-2003....the bad news is because of it's age it's actually cracking slightly in a few spots. I'm in talks with the recone builder to get everything taken care of. He's been helpful so far, though in the mean time I've glue up those spots.

here's a few shots of the beast siting around burning a hole in my floor....in comparison to a cdt cl-6 midbass...

had a few more delays gettign a new dustcap in....

instead of waiting longer im just using my old scratched and ****** trf dustcap. since the surround now has glue on it to take care of the cracks im not as worried as much about perfect cosmetics for the front of the sub. should have by bass back and operational soon.

The parts I put in failed...bas glue advice from the seller....but the seller gave me some new parts, so here we go again.....

this time around I got a hold of some 220 grit sand paper and polished up the motor. It still isnt perfect, but it's sure as hell alot nicer looking than before....
