reason for identical speakers playing louder than the other?

Hey guys,

I have 2 audiobahn 100w rms speakers in the front of my car. Ive noticed that one of the speakers plays louder than the others.

THey are both coming from my 4 ch bazooka amp.

This happens even when i have my fade on front.

It may be importan to the note that my two back speakers are different brands and different rms wattages. May this throws off my amp so that even the front two are off?

Any ideas? bad connections? bad cables?

Imaging, staging, You are closer to one of the speakers so its louder, or one is pointed at you (on axis) the other is not pointed (on axis). Last thing could be that they RCAs, amp, or speakers are on the fritz.

EDIT: check to see if all the speakers are wired correctly, they could be out of phase causing one to maybe sound louder.

im very sure that the speakers are in the same mounting position since they are on opposite doors. Also, Ive checked this by putting my ear against each speaker and they are noticeably different.

It could be my bazooka amp since the back two are different and maybe this is affecting how the amp is handling the front two?

Ooooooh, you put your ear up them... Well, why didn't say that orginally? Gosh, that test sounds very scientific.... You're probably right.

Next, why do you have different brands of speakers in the rear? Wait, i don't wanna know.

Finally, the dudes right.... they could be outa phase. But, like you said they ARE in the same mounting position so maybe they're not.

Hmmmm, I'm stumped.

What exactly you "gotskill" in?

Having two different brands of speakers in the front and back are fine that isnt the problem, try taking out the RCAs for the front and switch the L with the R to see if the other speaker gets louder. Also make sure you have the 1&2 input with one set of RCAs and 3&4 with the other set of RCAs. Last thing would be go to where you bought it from and let them hear what its doing, see if they will get you another one if you cant get any of the other things to work.

Oops, misred the first post. I thought he meant he had two different rear speakers. Yeah, front bein' different from the back. No problem.

sorry, I was a dick

switch the speakers & run your test again. put the left speaker on the right side and vice versa. If the right side is still louder, it ain't the speaker.

Actually, you shouldnt be sorry you were a dick because my two back speakers ARE different.

I mean, I know this isnt good but its all I have right now. Im really looking for change it, but its hard finding either a polk 5x7 or a kappa 5x7, and i dont have the money to buy those speakers right now.

But I will run some more diagnostic like switch the speaker out on the amp and see if that was causing it.

none of theses "put your ear up to it" tests are valid. This is one of the most ridiculous threads I've ever read....

Ask yourself this...... What's it sound like when you are sitting in the driver seat?

bean,

look i know none of these tests are inherently in themselves valid, but ive noticed differences sitting in the driver seat then the passenger seat. Ive noticed a difference putting my ear up to it. When the music is loud. I felt both doors to see the vibrations in them. The driver side is speaker is without a doubt noticeably louder than the passenger side speaker.
