Rear Deck Sub Replacement

I just purchased a 2001 Toyota Avalon XLS, and I'd like to preserve my trunk space. I have the OEM JBL system in there, and I'm looking to replace the stock sub that sits in the rear deck. It's an 8 inch I believe. I will eventually upgrade the rest of the system, but for now I'm dealing with the sub.

My question is, can I drop another sub in the same location with no other installation steps? Of course I would power it with an external amp and run new wires, but I'm saying, for optimal sound, would I need to do a full Infinite Baffle setup and make an IB enclosure and such? Cause I was thinking, if the stock sub works in this current setup, why wouldn't an aftermarket drop right in? Please explain. If this proves to be too difficult I guess I'll have to go with a small sealed enclosure. Thanks in advance.

Thanks!! I forgot all about that SS 8 inch it looks sexy =D But for the other question I had, could I just drop it in the same place? Or do I need more installation?

bump. Again, can I just drop a sub where the oem sub is? Or do I have to build a custom baffle or some sort? I want to minimize the work, I don't have a lot of free time to work with thanks

Maybe I'm not explaining myself clearly enough sorry. I'm asking if I could take out the stock subwoofer that is mounted in the rear deck of the car (The magnet is sticking out in the trunk you know where I'm talking about?) and then replace it with a different subwoofer that would fit there, without any further modifications to the rear deck besides like sound deadening. I guess I'm going for an IB setup, I'd like to know if this is a drop in setup or if I need any other materials to do this. I'm not talking about amps/wiring I'm talking about installation of the subwoofer into the stock location. Hope that's better =/

Alright thanks for the reply. I guess all I can do is try it out and if it sounds like crap, look into doing more installation. By a ring, you just mean like an MDF ring to screw the sub on right?

YEAH, i'd use mdf, screw the sub through the ring, into the stock mounting holes. that should help with rattling as well
