Hi everyone, I'm new to both these forums and the whole car audio scene. Recently, I bought a Eclipse CD5000 head unit and am waiting for the wire harness to come in before I can start the installation. What would be some good 6x9 speakers to pair up with the head unit?
What I'm looking to do is compensate for my lack of a subwoofer. The speaker should have good bass response and mellow highs. I'd like to hear some thump from the back, and also have the option to upgrade the front speakers later. I listen to a wide variety of music, from classical to pop to rock to hip-hop. Since I'd like to reproduce sounds accurately from all the types of music I listen to, I'm more interested in SQ over SPL. Looking to spend as close to $100 as possible, but willing to go up to around $150.
I thought multi-ways would be the best route to take. Since these will be for rear fill, I thought silk would be a good material for the tweeters. And respectively, titanium would be a bad tweeter material for me. Please enlighten me if my reasoning was incorrect! Pioneer's TS-D691R seemed to be a good fit. They had silk tweeters and the Kevlar material they use for the cones seemed pretty exotic. When I heard them in person at a local car audio shop, they seemed kind of weak though. I was quite disappointed with what I heard.
Does anyone have any suggestions at speakers or cone materials I could take a look at? I want to keep my interior as stock as possible, so no components, please. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Thanks!
