really quick question about wire gauge

i have us acoustics 2100 for cdt 61aand what is amperest
is dat all you going to be running? if so, 8awg is enough for you.

amp = measure of current.

jmac is referring to how much current ur amp would draw. the smaller tha number the bigger the wire is. so think of a water pipe. the bigger the pipe, the more water that can flow thru it. i usu go by how much power you will be running, just a little bit easier, but it's almost the same

distro - they depend on what wires u running.

what would happen if u ran a good 100 amps thru an 8awg non fused wire? will *eventually* each of the threads burn into?

i remember when i FIRST got my amp hooked up after rewiring it all and i went to crank my car and POOF!!!! smoke rolled form the engine and i almost wanted to cry. turns out the 4guage wire from my alternator to my starter *i think* burned right into and was so hot it remelted itself back togethe ron each end and the wire was hot from that point, to my battery, down my power wire *about 10-15 ft total*

come to find out it was a complete coincidence. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/scared.gif.f134e57c6c93ccd0f15aa5ac32c7d4a0.gif :thumbs_up

so if i have 2 amp one is lighting audio and the other is us acoustic. then what size should i use the lighting audio is 500 rms. us acoustic is 100 rms each channel 2 channel and what size distribution block do i use 4, 8 or 10 or none if it okey
