i was wondering if this would be a good setup.

2 type R 10' alpines

powered by a Hitron HPA1200.2

1200W Max, Pro Series 2-Channel Amplifier with Remote Level Control

suggestions are welcome also any recommendations on a box

i drive a 2000 pontiac grand am GT so its going into my trunk

are they dual 2 or 4?

and the specs on the amp on CA are ****ed up so i dont really know what to tell you. but from what im seeing about the subs, if you get the dual 2, wire them in series, amp sees 4 ohms a chan. get a 500rms x 2 channels at 4 ohms.

and do you have an aftermarket HU? if you dont, you will need a LOC, or a line out converter. you just hook it up to your speaker wires and rca outputs comeout.

nevermind ignore that other post. get dual 4's. wire them parallel. get a 500rms x 2 channels at 2 ohms. should be like 100-150. then 200 or so for the subs. should be around your price range. best thing to do with car audio if have extra money over how much you want to spend. remember you need to buy wire and whatnot.

thats speaking jibberish to me... am really really new so like any links or anything

all i know is i want alpine type R subs i was gonna get 2 12's but listen mainly to rock and metal so i was told to get 2 10's

well basically on Sonic the only 10 inch alpine type r's you can get is either a dual 2 or dual 4. ohms is impedance. as ohms go up, power goes down. MOST amps can handle two ohms easily. ill work on a diagram in paint.

so the amp is red, the subs are green, the positive terminals are red, and negative is black. the blue lines are wires. the way a drew out is called wiring in parallel, to reduce ohms. those green subs, are 4 ohm voice coils. because its a dual, then you need to wire them in parallel, making each sub a 2 ohm sub. then you plug them into the amp. the amp sees a pair of 2 ohm subs, and outputs the power it needs to.

k i understand that...

the ones i want to get are 4 ohms so il have 2 4ohms subs what is a good amp that can power them to their full potential and yea i planed on ordering from sonic

i understand alot more now because of your diagram

and as an example, you could also further reduce the ohms, by wire the 2 subs in parallel with eachother. to do that you would take the negative wire coming out of the first sub, connect it to the negative on the 2nd sub, and the same with the positive. then run those 2 wires to the amp, and bridge it( or use both channels, to get all the power you can). that would however make the amp see 1 ohm, which many cheap amps cannot handle, and theyll burn up and stuff. that was just an example though.

i wouldnt know exactly what amp you would want, but just look for a amp that can put out 500 watts rms x 2 channels, at 2 ohms. if you look at the specs, it will also have a rating for 4 ohms, and for bridged. you dont need to worry about that.

i cant sem to find one on sonic with that specs

look under amplifiers, then 2 channel. filter it for price:low to high. then page 5. 3rd one down. its a hitron. the power ratings on that are what you want. i wouldnt get that exact amp though.
