RE XXX owners.....help me with box tuning!

I just got a couple designs from RE for boxes on a 12" XXX. They sent me three designs:

2.5^3 ft. @ 35 Hz

2.5^3 ft. @ 30 Hz

2^3 ft. @ 33 Hz

If anyone here has previous XXX experience with any boxes exactly or near these sizes, your input is welcome.....I've never heard a XXX personally, so I'm excited, but don't wanna screw up with the box design. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nerd.gif.c6fa51ddf7ff75f1c0371fbc648f70ae.gif

Unfortunately, I have limited trunk space. It's going into a 2000 Mustang so I have a max trunk height of about 14-14.5", with of about 32-34" (not 100% sure of exact measurement), and about 30" of depth (need to measure this exactly too). Stupid Ford.

yuck 35hz tune would be a disgrace to a XXX. Go with 28hz.

Also do you know how to get a big box in that mustang yet? Cause you cannot get shit in there from the trunk lid side. You pull the rear seats out, including the top seat brackets and you can slide a big box in from inside the car. I fit 2 15's in my in a slanted front box 5 cubes gross.

I also cut some of the sheet metal that is useless below the bolt holes for the top seat brackets. You can trim off about 1" more and get alot more in there.

If you have any questions about install in that car email me at stangme01@yahoo.com don't have my 2001 anymore but i know all the trick to install, like how to get the wiring to the trunk without them being visible like when you are forced to run them over that hump into the rear etc.

For SPL he got the wrong sub then. there are MUCH better SPL subs out there for less money. THe XXX needs gobs of power to get really loud and even then its not ridiculously loud. Especially a single 12.

The xxx's greatest point is its extremely awesome deep deep bass under 40hz.

If you tune at 35hz you lose almost everything below 40hz. THe xxx isn't very loud AT ALL past 65hz so you will only get loud bass between ~42hz-60hz

You should have gotten an SX if you wanted SPL it would have been a much better choice.

I loved my XXX's but for SQ only, and for low bass.

I'm not going for SPL....SQL is what I'm aiming for. Great low bass, but still plenty loud at the same time, which is exactly what the XXX offers. I would've gotten the SX if I was going for SPL. Grand Masta (whom I consider "the genius" over at SD) suggested a 2 cubic foot enclosure tuned at 25 Hz. Hopefully he can draw me up some dimensions to fit that. I'd like to tune between 25-30 Hz if I can get the design for it going.

good for you, then you will be very happy with that sub, tune at 26-28hz. I like really low tuning on the xxx. I would go 26hz if you don't mind a really long port.

Yeah...he said he wants SQL!!!! A good mix of SQ and SPL...so a tuning slightly above 30hz would be great! I'd recommend 32-34hz personally...i usually tune b/w 29-33hz or so. Also, a ported enclosure is good to an octave below tuning. So 35hz would still have good sound quality around an below 30hz...
